Be Part of the Story From the Very Beginning
Friends of Felix is being built one safe space, one senior dog, and one generous supporter at a time. The Founding Friends Society recognizes the people who believed in our mission during its earliest chapter and helped lay the foundation for everything still to come.
Give $100 or more in qualifying donations during the Founding Period and become permanently recognized as one of the supporters who helped build Friends of Felix from the beginning. Gifts do not have to be made all at once, and donations to any Friends of Felix fund count toward your cumulative total.
Permanent Recognition
Founding Friends will be recognized as part of the community that helped shape our earliest chapter. Recognition may be listed by name, family name, business name, in honor or memory of a beloved pet, or anonymously.

As Friends of Felix grows, we hope to create a permanent Founding Friends recognition display at our future sanctuary honoring the people who helped make its earliest years possible.
Founding-Only Surprises
From time to time, Founding Friends may receive access to exclusive, limited-run Friends of Felix items created especially for our earliest supporters. These are expressions of gratitude and are not guaranteed benefits of membership.
How does cumulative giving work?
Your qualifying donations add together throughout the Founding Period. For example, four $25 gifts, two $50 gifts, or one $100 gift would each qualify once your cumulative total reaches $100.
Do donations made before this program launched count?
Yes. Qualifying charitable donations made to Friends of Felix from the organization’s founding through December 31, 2027 count toward Founding Friends recognition.
Does it matter which fund I support?
No. Donations to any Friends of Felix fund count toward your cumulative giving total. You are welcome to support the project or area of care that matters most to you.
Are limited-run items guaranteed?
No. Founding-only items are occasional expressions of appreciation and may vary over time. Founding Friends membership is about permanent recognition as part of the rescue’s earliest story, not receiving a merchandise package.
When does the Founding Period end?
The Founding Period closes on December 31, 2027. After that date, Founding Friends membership will close permanently, but the recognition of those who helped build Friends of Felix during this chapter will remain.
Founding Friends recognition is based on qualifying cumulative charitable donations received from the founding of Friends of Felix through December 31, 2027.
Why give?
Because Old Dogs Still Have So Much Life to Live
Senior dogs often arrive at shelters during the stage of life when they need stability, comfort and medical care the most. Too often, age works against them when adopters are choosing who gets to go home.
A Smaller Chance of Being Chosen
The ASPCA has cited a 25% adoption rate for senior dogs compared with 60% for younger dogs and puppies.
Too Often Overlooked
Older shelter animals are frequently among the last to be adopted, even though they have just as much love and companionship to offer.
Senior Adoptions Fell
Shelter Animals Count reported a 2% decrease in senior-dog adoptions in its 2025 mid-year national data.
But Senior Doesn't Mean Finished.
A senior dog may need medication, a softer bed, a slower walk or a little
more help getting comfortable. What they don't need is to be written off
because of the number attached to their age.
Sometimes a second chance lasts years. Sometimes it lasts months.
Either way, it matters.

Fozzie’s Story
At more than 15 years old, Fozzie found himself abandoned at a local shelter. While volunteering there, Olivia met him and knew he deserved more than for his story to end that way.
She adopted Fozzie and gave him what every senior dog deserves: comfort, relief from pain, love, and the freedom to enjoy whatever time he had left. For eight months, Fozzie filled his second chance with adventures—and changed Olivia’s life in return.
Their time together was far too short, but it made one thing clear: there were more dogs like Fozzie waiting for someone to choose them.
That realization became part of the foundation for Friends of Felix—a place where discarded senior dogs can be seen, valued, and given the chance to spend their final chapter knowing they are loved.
Fozzie only needed eight months to leave a legacy that will last for years.

Yes, Friends of Felix Senior Dog Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501(c )(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations made through Givebutter receive a receipt for your records.

Yes! We welcome many new and gently used supplies, as well as unopened pet food and other items we can use for the dogs in our care and our developing sanctuary.

Individual dog sponsorships will become available as we begin welcoming senior dogs into our program. Sponsorships will help provide ongoing medical and daily care for individual senior dogs and sanctuary residents.

Our long-term vision includes a permanent sanctuary for senior dogs who need a place to call home. As we grow, we may also use carefully selected foster homes when appropriate, allowing us to help more senior dogs while matching each dog with the environment that best meets their individual needs.
