Senior Dog Rescue

and Sanctuary

Our mission is to rescue senior dogs at risk of euthanasia, neglect, or abandonment and provide them with lifelong sanctuary, health, and love. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for aging dogs through compassionate, permanent placement and public education on the value of senior pet adoption.

The Mission

A woman with long hair and closed eyes kisses a small, white, fluffy dog on the head. The woman is holding the dog gently with both hands, and the dog looks directly at the camera.

A New Kind of Second Chance

For a senior dog, a second chance doesn’t always mean the same thing.

For some, it may mean finding an adoptive family to love them through their golden years. For others — because of age, medical needs, or simply the circumstances that brought them to us — the best second chance may be a safe place to call home for the rest of their lives.

At Friends of Felix, we believe the dog should come first, not the outcome.

Our goal is to meet each senior where they are and give them what they need most: compassionate care, comfort, security, enrichment, and the chance to simply enjoy being a dog again.

Whether their next chapter lasts a few months or a few years, we want to make it a good one.

We’re Building Their Forever

Why Seniors?

Old dogs aren’t done living.

Senior dogs may need a little more care, but they still have adventures to take, naps to enjoy, people to love, and memories left to make.

Ricky

Fifteen years old, completely toothless, and still convinced he was intimidating, Ricky proved that age doesn't make a dog any less themselves.

Molly

From pneumonia to rediscovering her beagle sass, Molly taught me that every senior comes with their own quirks—and getting to know them is part of the privilege.

The Dogs Who Led Us Here

Before Friends of Felix had a name, there were dogs who taught us just how much the final chapter of a life can matter.

Molly, Ricky, Chui, and Gotti each left their mark in a different way. Their stories are part of the heart behind our mission and a constant reminder that senior dogs are so much more than their age, their medical needs, or the circumstances that brought them to us.

They are why we believe that every old dog deserves to be known, loved, and given the chance to make a few more good memories.

Gotti

We almost missed each other, but somehow found our second chance. Losing my soul dog shattered me, but loving him helped turn a lifetime of senior-dog goodbyes into a mission.

Chui

Grumpy by nature and a prince by bedtime, Chui taught me to meet a dog exactly where they are—and to love them for exactly who they are.
